Our language of art is as individual as our language at home. Yet we are all North York artists, and we are all part of that wonderful game called “art”.
Sharon Erlichman,
from "How North York got to Queen Street"
In 1998, the Culture Office of the City of North York convened a meeting to explore how to assist and coordinate the efforts of North York visual artists in order to enrich the North York community art scene.
A founding group elected the first executive, in March 1998 at Edithvale Community Centre, with Joy Orzy as mentor. Monthly meetings provided demonstrations and lectures.
Two major and successful events were held each year, and will continue in 2010/11 with our major group show in December and a studio tour in the fall.
This year, we are holding a second show in the spring. The group flourished and the artists have had an exciting and successful ten year history.
The group has maintained its appeal as an intimate, supportive group for artists from beginner to professional and for those working in diverse mediums.
We talk, plan, play and create beautiful things with heart and passion to share with everyone.
