Larry Herscovitch

"If my work creates a strong feeling in the viewer then I have suceeded as an artist."

Biography:

In my paintings I am trying to capture the immense beauty found in our world. If my work creates a strong feeling in the viewer then I have suceeded as an artist.

Being the son of a retired meteorologist I have a great fascination for skies, clouds and various atmospheric phenomena.

Artists whose work I greatly admire are my teacher Vladimir Ribatchok, J.M.W. Turner, Fredrick Edwin Church, Albert Bierstadt, Monet, Homer Winslow, John Singer Sargent, Thomas Eakins, Frederick Childe Hassan, Lawren Harris, and Rembrandt.

I am a forty one year old engineer working full time in the automotive industry. I took up oil painting as a hobby in late 2002 after doing a lot of drawing as a kid, and for a short while some oil painting when I was fifteen years old. Along with digital photography and athletics, oil painting has become a great passion of mine.

I owe a lot my development as an artist to Vladimir Ribatchok who has been my teacher since I started. Vladimir is master painter originally from Russia.
